The necessity of standing firm against the danger of spiritual derailment from the revealed will of God.

The wisdom of the prudent is to understand his way: but the folly of fools is deceit. Proverbs 14:8.

When it comes to the will of God (a) the spiritually broken believer (not the rebel, arrogant and disobedient so-called children of God) admit that the word of God is eternal, the revealed final authority and Testament will of God, upon which every judgments, decisions, conducts and pursuits of life should be weighed and considered worthy to engage, if they are to be acceptable before him – therefore I esteem all thy precepts concerning all things to be right; and I hate every false way. Psalms119:128: (b) that, apart from this fact, there is a call for personal understanding of what the purpose of his calling – what God called us to do and become for him in the church and in the world which will give the answer to the real value of our life in relation to eternity.

Believers are called to be wise by seeking and laboring through diligent prayer and listening to the voice of the spirit to know what the will of the Lord is (be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is. Ephesians 5:17) in whatever they intends to do, lest any of their present interests and pursuits should by any means have a negative outcome or influence on their pursuit of eternal life. Note: while we lay hold in the pursuits of eternal life, no other interest, person or attraction should derail us from the present will of God or from the great price of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus – if you are wise, you will be wise for yourself, if you scoff, you alone will bear it. Proverbs 9:12.

As soon as Apostle Paul was arrested by the Lord on his way to Damascus, his first question was that of submission to the will and purposes of God, he asked, Lord, what would you have me do? Meaning, what is the purpose of this visitation – what is the purpose of this calling? What is your will or plans for my life? Acts 9: 6 a. Then the Lord said to him, arise and go into the city, and you will be told what you will do. Acts 9: 6 b.

The Lord’s response speaks of guidance, the necessity to be or go to the right place where instructions to know and fulfill the purposes of God concerning his life for more clarification shall be given him. This was a man who in the past religiously killed people who are serving and following the Lord, assuming he was in the will of God for his life, doing God’s service, but as soon as God  revealed himself to him – as soon as he understand what the will of God was for his life: (a) he conferred not with flesh and blood, meaning, I put aside my personal ambitions and aspirations in the world – brush aside the carnal reasoning’s and perception or opinions of others about him in pursuant and fulfilling the will of God for his personal life – but when it pleased God, who separated me from my mother’s womb, and called me by his grace, to reveal his Son in me, that I might preach him among the heathen; immediately I conferred not with flesh and blood: neither went I up to Jerusalem to them which were apostles before me; but I went into Arabia, and returned again unto Damascus. Galatians 1:16-19: (b) this show his implicit obedient to run after the will of God, abandoned every personal earthly goals and desires for heavenly purpose and calling – and I said, who art thou, Lord? And he said, I am Jesus whom thou persecute. But rise, and stand upon thy feet: for I have appeared unto thee for this purpose, to make thee a minister and a witness both of these things which thou hast seen, and of those things in the which I will appear unto thee; delivering thee from the people, and from the Gentiles, unto whom now I send thee, to open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me. Whereupon, O king Agrippa, I was not disobedient unto the heavenly vision: Acts 26:15-19: (c) after the deliverance from the ego of worldly and personal pursuits – deliverance and victory over human’s perception, judgments and unimportant opinions, – determination to obey and pursue after the will of God, – there is necessity for personal decisive spirit to fulfill the will of God to the end without compromise, overcoming false and deceitful counsels and appeals of envious, wicked and fearful men, irrespective of whatever lies a head of us.

This is the cost of discipleship – this is to follow the Lamb wheresoever’s he goes, but we can only follow after him where ever he lead us (as many as are led by the spirit of God, are the sons of God. Romans 8:14), knowing that he has gone before us before he sent us (for you shall not go out with haste, nor go by flight: for the LORD will go before you; and the God of Israel will be your rear guard. Isaiah 52:12) out, for none can perform acceptable task for the Lord, except they are at the right place of their assignment by guidance, lest they find themselves doing other men’s work, because they are not at the right place – as a bird that wandered from her nest, So is a man that wandered from his place (Proverbs 27:8): and as we tarried there many days, there came down from Judaea a certain prophet, named Agabus. And when he was come unto us, he took Paul’s girdle, and bound his own hands and feet, and said, thus says the Holy Ghost, So shall the Jews at Jerusalem bind the man that owned this girdle, and shall deliver him into the hands of the Gentiles. And when we heard these things, both we, and they of that place, besought him not to go up to Jerusalem. Then Paul answered, what mean ye to weep and to break mine heart? for I am ready not to be bound only, but also to die at Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus. And when he would not be persuaded, we ceased, saying, the will of the Lord be done. Acts 21:10-14.

Thy will be done on earth as it is done in heaven. Matthew 6:10. For the time been, this kind of prayer is not answered where the devil rules as the god of the world over the children of disobedient (2 Corinthians. 4:3-4), apart from the lifestyle, walk and pursuits of those who have genuine interest to seek, know and do the will of God on earth – this is where the integrity of the upright shall guide them: but the perverseness of the treacherous shall destroy them. Proverbs 11:3.

How can you say that you are saved and filled with the Spirit of God, chosen by God and doing his will, when your life is like a ship on the sea been tossed to and fro by the wind of different voices swaying your life and decisions here and there, and you cannot personally hear and discern the voice of God?  And he said, the God of our fathers hath chosen thee, that thou should know his will, and see that Just One, and should hear the voice of his mouth. Acts 22:14.

Those who have truly discovered and committed themselves doing the will of God will stay the course, they shall become the envy of the unstable and indecisive. How can anyone compare or compete with another in what the Lord is guiding them to do? That will come to diminishing and destroying the worth of his unique work in the Lord. Why are you inquisitive with what the Lord is doing or intends to do in the life of others? Will you strive against his will in another’s life, while someone else is praying fervently, day and night, that they should be made perfect and complete in all the will of God? Epaphras, who is one of you, a servant of Christ, salutes you, always laboring fervently for you in prayers that ye may stand perfect and complete in all the will of God. Colossians 4:12. Woe unto him that strive with his maker. Isaiah 45:9.

What is your problem with the will of God for others, if your problem is not to help them to fulfill the will of God? If you cannot help them to bear their burden, and so fulfilling the law of Christ, why should your words be burdensome and discouragement of heart unto them? Peter seeing him says to Jesus, Lord, and what shall this man do? Jesus says unto him, If I will that he tarry till I come, what is that to thee? Follow thou me. John 21:21-22.

There are some like Peter in your life who should be resisted and rebuked over and over again as they seek to derail you or others in your life from the will of God. For before this, Peter was used by the enemy to attempt dissuading the Lord from going down to Jerusalem to fulfill the will of God which was to die for our redemption, but the Lord stood firm against any sentimental persuasion to derail him by the enemy through one of his closest disciples – from that time forth began Jesus to shew unto his disciples, how that he must go unto Jerusalem, and suffer many things of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised again the third day. Then Peter took him, and began to rebuke him, saying, be it far from thee, Lord: this shall not be unto thee. But he turned, and said unto Peter, get thee behind me, Satan: thou art an offence unto me: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but those that be of men. Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it. For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul? For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then he shall reward every man according to his works. Matthew 16:21-27.

Individual is unique in his relationship with God as well as in his assignment, though it is for the edification of the universal body of Christ. This is one of the reasons why each should mind their business with God, not to seek to influence or meddle with the will of God in the life of another person in the body of Christ, lest we kick against the pricks. In the church, it is only the foolish believers that compete and compare themselves with others because they don’t know, and are not doing what the Lord intends for them to do – they who measure themselves by one another and compare themselves with one another are not wise. 2 Corinthians 10:12.

Why has God chosen to adopt you as his child? What is the essence of your salvation and adoption through Christ Jesus if you cannot fulfill the purpose of it? Was it not to fulfill the pleasure of his will in your life? According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love: having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will, to the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved. Ephesians 1:4-6.

How can you say that you are saved and filled with the Spirit of God, chosen by God and doing his will, when your life is like a ship on the sea, being tossed to and fro by the wind of different voices which are swaying your life here and there, and you cannot personally hear and discern his voice?  And he said, the God of our fathers hath chosen thee, that thou shouldest know his will, and see that Just One, and shouldest hear the voice of his mouth. Acts 22:14.

Ignorance of the personal will of God is counted as being lazy and unwilling to make an effort to seek after God to know your assignment in the kingdom. It is called slothfulness in business (Romans 12:11), whatever excuse or your unwillingness and unpreparedness to accomplish the will of God in your life, (though you know it or not, will not spare you from the consequence of the failure to know and fulfill the will of God on earth – And that servant, which knew his lord’s will, and prepared not himself, neither did according to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes. But he that knew not, and did commit things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few stripes. For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required: and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more. Luke 12:47-48.

Be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is. This is another call for spiritual sensitivity and consciousness to the voice of the spirit of God – My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand. John 10:27.

The will of God consist in what you’ve been personally instructed to do or not to do which must be strictly obeyed, otherwise, the consequence can be fatal. Consider the young prophet who was sent to Bethel to prophesy against the false altar of Jeroboam the son of Nebat. The will of God was made clear (a) not to eat where he was sent to prophesy (b) not to go back the same way he came into the city. Unfortunately, an old prophet made a false prophetic declaration to him; but instead of him to wait on the Lord for the confirmation if it’s true, or the rejection of the lying and envious old prophet words and invitation, he foolishly obeyed his word to eat where he was instructed by God not to eat, and was killed by a lion as punishment from God – The wisdom of the prudent is to understand his way: but the folly of fools is deceit. 1 Kings 13. Proverbs 14:8.

A wise believer will not be in haste to obey anyone in his life for whatever reason, except God confirmed it by the mouth of two or three witnesses – Also, that the soul be without knowledge is not good; and he that hasteth with his feet sinneth. Proverbs 19:2. Note: you should not be in haste to do what others asked you to do, except God is asking you to do it – do not be in haste to go wherever you see others going, except you are led by the spirit of God, keep praying until you know the will of God.

It will be a failure of eternal proportion to walk away from the will of God – it can cause replacement from God for another person to take your place by your indecisiveness just as the children of Israel were asked to fight and to possess the land, but they chose to listen to the voices of their elders who brought back the evil reports of the land, this caused them to murmur and chose to go back to Egypt, but by their understanding of the judgment of God against their actions and rebellion, they then decided to go up to possess the land, but it was late, too little, they made a breach of God’s promise, and God killed them in the wilderness, but their children was preserved to possess the land they despised in their stead. Numbers 14. Note: those who will honor those above them at the expense of the will and purposes of God for their life, dishonored God who is above all. They shall not only be dishonored and replaced by God, but shall not possess the land of their inheritance – the simple believeth every word; but the prudent man looks well to his going – follows after the guidance of the Spirit of God. Proverbs 14:5.
