There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh (carnal believers), but after the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. Romans 8:1-2.
This knows also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, traitors, heady, high-minded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers’ lusts; ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth. 2 Timothy 3:1-7.
Note: that which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the spirit is spirit (John 3:6): there is no debate for such thing as biracial spiritual birth of Christ because there was no mixture or dilution of natural blood coming together with the unblemished blood of the everlasting covenant that saves and sanctifies us in him, lest any past, present or future believer in Christ Jesus should think that they have any right or grace to live carnally and fleshly in ungodly lusts (for the grace of God that brings salvation hath appeared to all men, teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world. Titus 2:11-12.
The Virgin Mary gave birth to what the angel Gabriel referred to as ‘that Holy thing’ (Luke 1:35), so that the sinless Christ in the flesh should be legally born and be entitled to pay the debt or the price for our sins by his  holy, harmless and undefiled and obedient life (Hebrews 7:26): to redeem us by his precious blood, to the end that our spiritual conception, birth and lifestyles should be incorruptible – free from any carnality, worldly lusts or lusts of the flesh, notwithstanding our present habitation and existence in this corruptible body, through the faith of the operation of God who raised Jesus from the dead, we who are baptized unto him should walk in the newness of life, and by the reason of the seed of our spiritual naissance (being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which lives and abides forever. (1 Peter 1:21) they that are called and saved by him should now live to sow to the indwelling Holy Spirit for the eternal future of harvest of incorruption and immortality: do not be deceived, God is not mocked, whatsoever man sows, that shall he also reap. He that sows to the flesh (carnal – sinful lifestyle) shall of the flesh reap corruption (second death); but he that sows to the spirit (in the fruit and godliness thereof) shall of the spirit reap everlasting life (Galatians 6:7-8)
There was no sinful or any carnal behavior found in Christ who was tempted in all points during the days of his life on earth, yet without sin. Hebrews 4:15. Because we are also dead with Christ, buried with him in baptism, we should be dead to sin to walk worthy of God unto all pleasing, it is our call and responsibility to walk in a fix consciousness and determination to always bear about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our body (2 Corinthians 4:10) for the experience and testimony of victory and dominion through indwelling spirit of God over the strivings of the flesh, the sin, diver lusts, over the world, and over Satan who is roaming around, seeking whom to devour. Galatians 5:16-18.
The Israelis in the wilderness were known as the Old Testament church (Acts 7:38), called and saved out of Egypt (world) to live in a new spiritual life in contrast to the former ways of lifestyles they once lived while they sojourned in the land of Egypt as God was leading the way for their preparation to the land of promise – Canaan. The scriptures says that they were saved on their way to the Promised land, just as any of the present day members of Christ body – the church is saved in the hope of eternal life. Titus 1:2. They were baptized and were made partakers of spiritual meat and drink with the abiding presence of God day and night – pillar of cloud by day, and pillar of fire by night, but he was not pleased with their walk in the wilderness because they refused to learn his ways (practical spiritual life in conformity to daily outward lifestyles – living as it becomes the gospel of Christ. Philippians 1:27), so he overthrown or destroyed many of them along the way to stop them from entering and possessing the Promised Land.
Except Caleb and Joshua with the children of the generation of them that came out of Egypt which were born in the wilderness, the rest of the people perished by the hand of God, so that we should be made wiser from the error of their carnal or lustful  life, lest we also lust after evil things as they also lusted, but to live as spiritual men and women for whom Christ gave himself as the result of our sins, that he might deliver us from this present evil world (Galatians 1:4): to live as people upon whom the end of the world is come, lest what befell them from God should befall us from him, if we should continue to live and to walk carnally after the lusts of the flesh by turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ (I will therefore put you in remembrance, though ye once knew this, how that the Lord, having saved the people out of the land of Egypt, afterward destroyed them that believed not. Jude 1:5) with whom there is no respect of person. 1 Corinthians 10:1-13.
Christ was the grace of God following and abiding with them in the wilderness. Whatever grace and provision we are presently enjoying today in Christ, they had once enjoyed them as well in the wilderness because they did all eat of the same spiritual meat (then Jesus said unto them, verily, verily, I say unto you, Moses gave you not that bread from heaven; but my Father gives you the true bread from heaven. For the bread of God is he which cometh down from heaven, and gives life unto the world (John 6:32-33) and drank water from the moving Rock (Christ) as we also receive the baptism of the spirit:  but they stupidly wasted and diverted spiritual strength, blessings and resources to fuel, satisfied and to promote their fleshly desires, and could not found true satisfaction in God through submission and adaptation to their new life.
They were dissatisfied with God’s trainings and discipline measures designed to reform them so they may be partakers of his holiness: though they were saved, but they don’t want to escape from the corruption that is in the world (Egypt) through lusts as they repeatedly called and requested for the garlic and the flesh from Egypt. They also envied Moses and Aaron in the camp, and they caused strife and division among their brethren (things hated by God).  They strive and disagreed with God often and often, but he continues to bear long with them in hope that they will change. They made golden calf and joined (unequally yoked) themselves to Baal of Peor to eat sacrifices of food offered to the dead as they continue to enlarge their ungodly and carnal desires as hell through covetousness which is idolatry. They complained and murmured, and they set up strange fire and taunt or scoff at God. They threatened and desired to go back to Egypt, while they compared and confessed to prefer the old life of slavery in sin and bondage under Pharaoh whose yoke was heavy, better than the new spiritual life of freedom from sin under God, whose yoke was easy – this was their carnality in their repeated rebellious lifestyle, the very opposite of the life they were saved to live, but they continue to provoke God, showing adamant and determined behavior not learn his ways that they should walk therein: therefore he sworn in his wrath, that they shall not enter into his rest.
It was practically impossible for any willing carnal minded Israelis in the wilderness to trace his way back to Egypt (world) because the red sea was closed back after they went through it as of dry land; not as any present day believer can easily go back into the world from following after Christ (Hebrews 10:38): nevertheless, the Israelis chose to live and walk with God just as they were once living in Egypt according to their former lusts in their ignorance (1 Peter 1:14), even as some believer will not completely backslide into the world, but will partially continue to live in Christ just as they were in times past – this is carnality and the condemnation of any carnal pattern of life as the Gentiles walk (the Egyptians – worldly), in the vanity of their mind, having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God (spiritual life) through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart:  who being past feeling have given themselves over unto lasciviousness, to work all uncleanness with greediness. But you have not so learned Christ – this is not the way, the truth and lifestyle from Christ. If so be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus: that ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; and be renewed in the spirit of your mind. Ephesians 4: 17-23.
There is no defect in our spiritual birth, so the spiritual problem of a carnal believer is not from God. If we are walking according to the law of the spirit of life in Christ Jesus which is given to set us free from the law of sin and death, we will surely have victory over any little, big or any besetting sin of the flesh we are called upon to lay aside (Hebrews 12 b); even that which seems to be the weakest or hardest point of lust in us shall we be able to overcome. Note: the believer who is in Christ Jesus (2 Corinthians 5:17) but is walking in the flesh other than in his laborious progressive walk and growth through self-cleansing and purging from the filthiness of the flesh and of the spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God (2 Corinthians 7:1. 2 Timothy 2:21) is the definition of a carnal believer whose steps as well as his doings are false because they are not ordered and framed by the word of God – order my steps in your word oh Lord, and let not any iniquity have dominion over me (Psalms 119:113): let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body (lest you become a carnal Christian) that you should obey it in the lusts thereof.  Neither should you yield your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God. For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace. Romans 6:12-14.
A believer who is not making progress in his spiritual life has a lot to worry about because he is at risk to be cut off the vine as a branch (John15:2), except he abide in the vine, fruit bearing is not possible. Who is he that abides in him, but he that is conscious of his obligation and necessity to labor in prayer for power to obey the call to walk daily in the spirit (Galatians 5:16), even as Christ has once walked in the spirit during the days of his flesh, so that the flesh and its power is subdued until its completely wane out – I die daily (1 Corinthians 15:31) as the outward man perish, but the inward man is renewed day by day. 2 Corinthians 4:16) to bring forth the image of Christ through us until we possibly, through grace, attain unto the fullness of the measure of the stature of our Lord. Acts11:26. Ephesians 4:13.
There comes a time in our relationship with God as a son with his Father to disallow us to remain as spiritual babes who is always in need of spiritual milk and not of strong meat (in fact, though by now you should be teachers, you still need someone to teach you the basic truths of God’s word. You have become people who need milk instead of solid food. For everyone who lives on milk is still a baby and does not yet know the difference between right and wrong. But solid food is for mature people, whose minds are trained by practice to distinguish good from evil. Hebrews 5:12-14), even those who are arriving lately or just came in yesterday into the kingdom are called upon to put certain and specific works and manifestations of carnality away from them for the sake of the health of their soul, and of their spiritual life, lest they become sickened, troubled and defiled, and the life and the fruit of their spiritual growth is hamper by any of those things they ought to put away, if they should not – wherefore laying aside all malice, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, and all evil speaking, as newborn babies, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby.  If so be ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious. 1 Peter 2:1-3.
Refusal to practically put carnal behaviors away so as to replace them with love which does not envy, and to walk daily in forgiveness instead of animosity or cruelty, and to avoid spiteful spirit, and to teach our mouth to speak gracious word, seasoned with salt and filled with grace, instead of speaking jesting and corrupt communication which is not convenient, shows that we have decided to walk like men of the world, though we are in the Lord: this is carnality and disregard contempt against the word of God which is going to ruin any present or future relationship with God, except we repent now. Who can stand before malice or malicious person? Who can stand long in the company of evil speakers who speaks like the piercing of sword to hurt others? Put them away from you before they put you away from God: wrath kills the foolish man, and envy slays the silly one. Job 5:2.
Any form of carnal manifestation or the trace (s) of fleshly works in a believer is a sign of an unbroken part in him, indicating that there is stronghold (s) of reproach of sin (Proverbs 14:34) in his life by his refusal and reluctance to pull them down and to bring his every thoughts in him into captivity to the obedient of Christ, saying to himself, I shouldn’t be doing this and to stop doing it. 2 Corinthians 10:5. Carnality is the mark of the sins and works of the flesh which should be overcome by the renewing in the spirit our mind (Ephesians 4:23), so that the body of sin should be destroyed (knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed or rendered powerless, that we should not be slaves to sin. Romans 6:6): otherwise, the works of the flesh will continue to have better part of us; but those that do such things (carnal brethren) shall not inherit the kingdom of God. Galatians 5:19-21.
The reproach of sin is the evidence of a believer carnal walk, showing his deliberate walk in any of the works of the flesh. It is deliberate because you are servant to whom you obey – God or Satan. Before we come to Christ, though we are conscious of his laws (Romans 7:21), we were unable to fulfill them because Christ that will deliver us from the power of the body of sin has not yet come into our lives, so that we can both serve the law of God in our mind and to overcome the law of sin in our flesh (Rom. 7:25) as the result of the new law which is at work in us in Christ Jesus, which is more powerful than the notion of sin or the law of sin and death in us – it is the law of the spirit of life in Christ to walk in the spirit (walk in the spirit, and you will not fulfill the desires of the flesh. Galatians 5:16) and not in the flesh, not to produce any of its works or to allow the law of sin to operate or reign in us, lest we make the outcome of the effects of the cross of Christ ineffective. Watch and pray that you enter not into temptation: as for the flesh, it’s already been judged and condemned with all its works, fruits and lusts, lest we should think to have any excuse to justify our unwillingness to overcome it by our diligent and prayer for power and victory (you receive not because you ask not) as David once prayed, deliver me from all my transgressions: make me not the reproach of the foolish. Psalms 39:8) that we might have obtain grace to abstain from the fleshly lusts, waging war against the soul. 1 Peter 2:11.
The reproach of sin is our carnality which should not be mistaken for the mark or the reproach of Christ we are called to bear in our body (wherefore Jesus also, that he might sanctify the people with his own blood, suffered without the gate.  Let us go forth therefore unto him without the camp, bearing his reproach. For here have we no continuing city, but we seek one to come. Hebrews 13:12-14): it is the right choice of a life which is in continual striving and triumphant resistance against sin (Hebrews 12:4): for they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts – I was also upright before him, and I kept myself from mine iniquity. Galatians 5:24. Psalms 18:23.
There are two reasons a carnal believer is what he is in the Lord: (a) perhaps, he was  converted into the circle or company of carnal spiritual believers (birds of a feather flock together), until he is able to discern and to discover for himself what is it to live and love in the spirit (Colossians 1:7- 8), so he can easily break away from carnal spiritual lifestyle (from such turn away. 2 Tim. 3:5) as Moses practically acted by faith while he was living in the palace of the king of Egypt, seeing the corruptible and ungodly family examples, he break away from living in carnality to live a pure and incorruptible spiritual life – not a half part of him living as a child of God, while another part of him is living as Pharaoh’s son to enjoy the pleasure of world, flesh and of sin. Hebrews 11:24-27: (b) it is likely that the problem of a carnal believer is part of himself by saying that’s me, that is just whom I am, for the characters and behaviors he’s not willing to part with through the hardening of his heart like the Israelis in the wilderness through the deceitfulness of sin. Hebrews 3:18.
Though, some carnal believer are born again into a good spiritual environment of spirit -filled believers, but like a rebellious and self willed (carnality is self-willed spirit) prodigal son, they chose to live in the world of sin and lusts outside their father’s will: also, like an un- teachable and rebellious child who will not receive correction to obey the instructions from his good, godly, holy and spiritually minded teachers, shall he search for himself a suitable sweet talker and men pleasers teacher to make him happy, having itching ears. 2 Timothy 4:3.
Carnal believers chooses to have their own way instead of walking in God’s way which they know is not man’s way: though they are joined with the Lord in the spirit, they are not joined with him the body – this is one of the many reasons they are called carnal because they do whatever they like with their body, not glorifying God in their body (not decently dressed up, active sexual immoral sin – fornication, adultery, prostitution, homosexual, lesbian, bestiality, masturbation etc) which is actually the temple of God by living unto themselves, instead of living unto Christ who died for them and rose again. 2 Corinthians 5:14-15.
The corruption (s) found in carnal believer is the lust (s) of his flesh he has refused to crucify with Christ – the little foxes that spoil the vine. Songs of Solomon 2:15. They are called to resist Satan, but they are openly denying and resisting the power of the Holy Spirit in them to walk in the newness of life, consciously living in open resistance to deny the manifestation and testimony of the power of godliness in them: according as his divine power has given unto us things that pertains to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who has called us to glory and virtue: whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these, we might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lusts. 2 Peter 1:3-4.
Those who are presently denying the true manifestation of godliness in them are denying the manifestation of Christ resurrected life through them because of their unwillingness to fully surrender to the spirit and the word to reproduce the image of the son of God through them (I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me (Galatians 2:20) like the foolish Galatians who once began in the spirit, but was then made perfect in the flesh (Galatians 3:1) to conceal, bottle up or suppress the operation of the inward works of God’s spirit through the renewal and regeneration of the Holy Ghost (Titus 3:5-6): let them understands this, Christ shall likewise disapprove and condemn them for their present refusal not to live unto themselves (carnality) so that they should also live with him hereafter. 2 Tim. 2:11-13.
As believers in Christ Jesus, God promises to bless us and to supply for all our need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus, but not according or because of our spirituality – sometimes, spiritual people are the poorest of this world, but they are rich in faith, and their eternal treasures and riches are immeasurable in heaven. James 2:5.
The scriptures make us to understand that God blesses the unbelievers, and they are made financially prosperous and buoyant more than the children of the kingdom: but this is all they have to enjoy while they live as their portion from God (arise, O Lord, disappoint him, cast him down: deliver my soul from the wicked, which is thy sword: from men which are thy hand, O Lord, from men of the world, which have their portion in this life, and whose belly thou fills with thy hid treasure: they are full of children, and leave the rest of their substance to their babes. As for me, I will behold thy face in righteousness: I shall be satisfied, when I awake, with thy likeness. Psalms 17:13-15) as there’s nothing afterlife, except misery, second death and destruction awaiting them in eternity for despising and ignoring God while they are alive – they spend their days in wealth, and in a moment go down to the grave. Therefore they say unto God, depart from us; for we desire not the knowledge of thy ways. What is the Almighty that we should serve him? And what profit should we have, if we pray unto him? Job 21:13-15.
The church at Laodicea (Revelation 3:14-18) is another good example of the assembly or congregation of carnal believers which thinks and behaves like the people of the world (carnality) because of the material blessings and possessions they have received to enjoy from God which should also serve as materials to advance his work. But they allowed themselves to become proud, half spiritual and half carnal (neither cold not hot) as the result of God’s increase and blessings upon them, but the Lord will not bear for so long as to tolerate such spiritual lifestyle of carnal minded believers in his church. Their false satisfaction and joy, and the erroneous conceptualization and ideology of their spirituality founded on financial increase and material blessings are the Lord’s  points and reasons to rebuke (because thou says, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knows not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked) and to warn them of the impending danger to disown them (I will spew you out of my mouth) if they don’t change and repent from their carnal minded vocabulary and lifestyles of false security in God, having departed or being carried away from the life they are called to live by those vanity things reserved for fire. Thus, their confessions and comportments reveal their carnality before him that walks in the midst of the seven candlestick, prompting Christ quick reaction against their worldly thoughts, mentality and lifestyles with no difference to the mentality of the unsaved men of this world which have their portion in this life because God filled them with abundance treasure. Note: pride, vain joy and glory, spiritual coldness, worldly and carnal-mindedness and materialistic spirit and pursuits are parts of the signs of a carnal believer (if I have made gold my hope, or have said to the fine gold, thou art my confidence; if I rejoice because my wealth was great, and because mine hand had gotten much; This also were an iniquity to be punished by the judge: for I should have denied the God that is above. Job 24-28) who was called and saved to set his affection on things above: not to look after the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal, but the things which are not seen are eternal. 2 Corinthians 4:18.
Is there is any gladness of heart presently found in a carnal believer? Search diligently (Pro. 18:17), it should be as the result of his increasing bank balance credit account update; or, as the reason of his increasing wine, oil and bread like the foolish rich man: otherwise, you’ll soon find him sorrowful, down -hearted and stressful through murmuring for what is not happening for him against God’s timing. He will show instant discouragement from praying, personal studying of his bible and fellowship with the brethren – he’s probably weeping like a baby; not for his sin, but as the children of Israel wept for fish they wanted to eat in the wilderness for their lustful desired which was not in supply, instead of the life of contentment with thankfulness for the present provisions made available by God.
Believer’s carnal lifestyle is a costly spiritual error. The Lord says to his disciples, now you are clean (pruned, purged, cleansed) through the word which I have spoken to you (John 15:3), even as those who are clean, who are living in a sincere and genuine spiritual life escaped from the carnal pastors and brethren who are living in error. Carnal believers willingly make themselves vulnerable as prey, and their comportments freely grant permission to be taken captives as spiritual hostage by the carnal pastors, teachers and prophets whose tactic is to appeal to the lustful desires of the flesh (they proudly boast about their sins and conquests, and, using lust as their bait, they lure back into sin those who have just escaped from such wicked living. You aren’t saved by being good, they say, so you might as well be bad. Do what you like; be free (2 Peter 2:18-19) to entice and pin down the likeminded. Note: another word for carnality is fleshly or sensuality which is the focal point of appeal devised by Satan to separate man from God (Genesis 3:3-4. Rom 6:16), even as the first parents made themselves loathsome before him by their carnal decision and action in the fall of man in the Garden – but those  that are in the flesh (carnal minded believer) cannot please God. Romans 8:8.
Carnal mind and life is indeed evil even as Adam and Eve regrettably discovered it afterward to be true, just exactly as the devil promised them that they shall know good from evil, not knowing that the promise made by the enemy to live carnal shall have adverse effects both on their present and future spiritual condition and on their well being as they were sent out from the Garden of Eden, away from the goodness of God to till the land they were made from. We can divide the error of the first parents (Adam and Eve) from the Garden of Eden into three separate parts, namely, (a) the lust of the flesh of their carnal mind shown by self-willed and self-centeredness – self-care and modification because the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food. Has God not been mindful of them with every good and perfect care necessary for their enjoyments to live well in the Garden by giving them access to eat every tree in it, except the fruit from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil? When man has it appertains to him to live by bread alone by ignoring the word of God and undermining his precepts for food and meats?  Job 23:12.
This was the carnal error of the spiritual life of the first parents; for which cause Christ, the second Adam, came to correct, and by his perfect obedient, he become the author of eternal salvation to them that obeys him. Matthew 4:4. Hebrews 5:9. Note: where Adam and Eve failed because of their discontentment (carnality), Christ passed the test and triumphed for us, so that, if we have truly come to him and learnt from him, we should know how to be content in whatever situation: how to enjoy plenty, or how to suffer need, to be able to do all things through Christ that strengthens us.
(B) When the woman saw that the fruit was pleasing to the eye (the light of the body is the eye: if therefore your eye is single, thy whole body shall be full of light. But if your eye is evil, your whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness! Matthew 6:22-23): this is the spirit of self –focus behavior (look away from God, look to youself), self – attraction, self-pleasing, self-pursuance and self-appealing which turns one’s attention away from the main spiritual focus which is Christ as to keep looking unto him who is the author and finisher of our faith, serving God in the singleness of eye or heart, freed from the lusts of the flesh, and of the lusts of the eyes of the things that are in the world. 1 John 2:15-17.
(C) When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good and desirable for gaining wisdom. This is the spirit of carnal, sensual and earthly wisdom in self – improvement which set itself in contention against the wisdom of God who has fearfully and wonderfully made us: even as another man would envy the good and righteous works of his neighbor like Cain: but if ye have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, glory not, and lie not against the truth. This wisdom descends not from above, but is earthly, sensual, and devilish. James 3:14-15.

This is the evidence and continuation of Satan’s envy against God from the beginning which he craftily implicates and compromises to corrupt the first parents therein. Note: to ignore the counsel and the wisdom of God’s word is not only foolish, but is carnal, earthly, sensual and devilish of a condemnable pride of life in man.
The carnal mind is enmity against the law of God because his affection is set, not on the things above, but on things on earth as lovers of pleasure more than God (woe unto them that live in pleasure –of sin, of the flesh, or the world in Zion. Amos 6:1-3): walking shamelessly as the enemy of the cross of Christ, having made his stomach as his god. Certainly, there are some things the morally unsaved person would not do because it is not decent, but the carnal believer, by using this world and abusing it, as if he’s like the people of the world, or he is of  the world (1 Corinthians 7:31) will confidently go a- head to do such things as he bear fruit unto himself (Hosea 10:1) and be proud of what he should be ashamed of:  perverse disputing of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness – prosperity teacher falls into this description (1 Timothy 6:3-5): but his end shall be eternal ruin and destruction from the presence of God, far away from eternal paradise, even as Adam and Eve were formerly sent out of the earthly paradise, far away from the presence of God. Philippians 3:17-19.
Carnal lifestyle fulfills the ungodly and unholy desires of the flesh and of the minds: sadly to say that the carnal brethren are unaware that those lusts and carnal behaviors are as the results of the direct influences and works of the prince of the power of the air, the spirits (demons or evil spirits) that is now working in the children of disobedience, of which they are called upon to be strong against in the Lord and in the power of his might (Eph. 2:1-2.. Eph. 6:10.): to focus our minds on the human nature leads to death, but to focus our minds on the Spirit leads to life and peace.  Romans 8: 6.
The Lord says that it t is useless, needless, senseless, painful and shall be wasteful at the end to pour new wine into an old wine bottle; neither should we seek to sew a new cloth together with the old piece. Mark 2:21. Carnality is a stumbling block of sin within us which must be uprooted: the old clothes of the old man should be put off and be burnt to ashes. None of the old clothes should be put on in our new life and walk (Ephesians 4:222-24), lest we make ourselves like a washed pig that is wallowing itself repeatedly in the mud. Pigs loves dirt, so the carnal believer finds a great pleasure in his carnal behaviors and lifestyles, and would not love to part with them, but will seek to find every excuse in heaven and on earth to justify his infirmities of which he can receive help from the Lord through prayer and grace to overcome. Hebrews 4:15-16.
The carnal believer is always a hypocrite and a pretender who is engrossed in man’s praise and approval, seeking his commendation from the world. The carnal believer, though he is a servant of God, he’s men’s pleaser, not worthy to be called as God’s servant because God is not respecter of person. Galatians 1:10. Spirituality and carnality is a lifestyle, one is serving and walking with God in the newness of the spirit, while the other continues to walk and serve God in the oldness of the letter. Romans 7:6. What then is the difference between an unsaved person who is living and walking in the flesh from a carnal believer, who is living in the spirit, but is walking in the flesh and fulfilling the lusts thereof? Practically nothing, except that the carnal believer is not serving God in spirit and in truth which is hypocrisy for greater condemnation: therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, neither with the leaven of malice and wickedness (which is carnality), but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth. 1 Corinthians 5: 8-11.
The fundamental basic standard of individual’s judgment and approval, especially the believers before God shall be on the worth, fruitfulness, profitableness in sanctification, quality, and the positive effects of their spiritual life when they get to heaven: for this cause was the gospel preached also to them that are dead, that they might be judge according to men in the flesh, but lived according to God in the spirit (1 Peter 4:1-7): let the carnal brethren be thoughtful and ready for the future harvest of sowing to the works and lusts of the flesh because their lifestyle and behaviors is a stumbling block of offense to fall or to cause other to sin in the world as well as in the church: they should know that it could have been better if they were not born, than to make a believer to sin: and it could have been better if they have not known the way of righteousness than to be living carnally as men of the world, though they are in the Lord.
The word carnal mind or carnal man has to do with the flesh, sense and of the world because of its outward attraction or allurement and manifestation to enjoy or to live in those things considers unpleasant or unbiblical to God through the provision made for the flesh to fulfill the lusts thereof: and that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed. The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light. Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying.  But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfill the lusts thereof. Romans 13:11-14.
Your spiritual life is the one needful thing, while other legitimate things in the world and in the flesh can follow after. The Lord will show us by example that spiritual life and duty should not bow before any other relationships, duty or affection, no matter how godly and good it seems to be, though it might or not stand in opposition to fulfill the will of God as we can see from his response to his parents question that they shouldn’t be searching for him while he must go about his Father’s business, but will afterward follow them back home and was in submission to them: (b) he also communicate to us by example when he willing gave himself up to the death of the cross, afterwards give the instruction for his mother’s care into the hand of the disciple whom he love: therefore, let them that marry be as though they were not (1 Corinthians 7: 5 & 29) whenever duty and the obligation before the King of heaven should come first: whosoever shall love father; mother, wife, husband or children more than Christ is not worthy of him.
It is the spirit that quickens; the flesh profits nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life. John 6:63. The life in the spirit is the new life in Christ Jesus designed for us to overcome the sin in the flesh, even as Christ died to condemn sin in the flesh, so that the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us if we are not walking after the flesh as carnal Christian, but after the spirit as spiritual men and women of God – born of above. Romans 8: 3-4. The manifestations of the gifts of the Spirit is not the spirituality of any believer, but the outworking of God in him as a vessel – sanctify or otherwise. If he’s a sanctify vessel, he will be preserved for heaven: if otherwise, though he’s used by God, his carnality will likely cost him not to see him whom no man shall see without obedience and holiness – not everyone that says Lord, Lord, shall enter into heaven, carnal believers are workers of iniquity, be careful to work out your salvation with fear and trembling as obedient children. Timothy 2:20-22.
The scripture speaks about the doubled sided crucifixion, whereby a believer should be crucified to the world, and the world is crucified to him: this is the true spirituality over any possible carnal lifestyle or behavior (Galatians 6:14): but it also speaks of the impossibility of a spiritual soldier – a believer who may likely desire to live like a civilian while in his military attire for service  – half spirituality and half carnality: for no man called to be a soldier should entangle himself in the affairs of this world, that he may please him who has chosen him to be a soldier. 2 Tim. 2:4.
Carnality is the sympathy, temptation and the resistance of the flesh against the perfect will of God. Christ, having overcome outward opposition earlier posed by false carnal sentiment, comfort and prevention from Peter through Satan who was trying to stop him from going to the cross (Matthew 16:21-23) to die, must now overcome his own carnal mind by his insistent or importunate strong supplication repeatedly for three times unto God at Gethsemane to obey and fulfill the Father’s will against carnal opposition of the painful death of the cross, where he prayed to escape the possibility of its agony, so that the cup prepared by the Father should possibly pass away from him. Matthew 26:40-46.
Are you thinking or wandering about the identity of them which continually despise the Holy Spirit – the spirit of grace? They are the carnal brethren. They have the Spirit, but they ignore his presence by their refusal to yield to him for the changes he is expected to work within them. They would eat their cake and have it, having the Spirit, but are led by the flesh. God will also rebuff them at the end because he will not honor them that despise him. As many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. The Spirit of God will never lead us to do anything to please the flesh or to conform in any way to the world fashion, styles and ways, because he will always strive against the flesh and the world, lest we be defiled by their works and lifestyle before God. James 1:27. The Spirit that lusts towards envy against worldliness and sin of the flesh will never lead us to grieve him, but will rather supply us with inner strength to resist and to bring the body under subjection to overcome its fight against the will of God in our lives.
Though the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, yet, the carnal believer will tells you that what the bible says doesn’t really matter because the world is changing and evolving, and we should altogether evolve with the world, thus they bring worldliness and carnality to the church. They walk by sight and not by faith, and they will stand on your way to fulfill the will of God through discouragement and self –pity party if you are not spiritually minded, such as the enemy manifest through the carnal sentiment of the brethren at Ephesus to weep and to break the heart of Apostle Paul in order to discourage and to stop him from waging a good warfare according to the prophecy which has gone out before him that he will suffer at Jerusalem and be delivered unto the Gentiles for Christ sake. Unless Apostle Paul had made up his mind to live and die for Christ, those fearful, weeping and miserable comforters – carnal brethren should never have come to submit themselves to the sovereignty of him whose will should be done on earth in the lives of his faithful children as well as it is done in heaven, notwithstanding any outward loss and fleshly gain. Acts 21:10-14.
