The preciousness and uniqueness of believer’s relationship with God. Nimes 13 – 02 – 21.

Jesus therefore answered and said unto them, murmur not among yourselves. No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day. It is written in the prophets, and they shall be all taught of God. Every man therefore that hath heard, and hath learned of the Father, cometh unto me. John 6:43-45.
But I certify you, brethren that the gospel which was preached of me is not after man. For I neither received it of man, neither was I taught it, but by the revelation of Jesus Christ. For ye have heard of my conversation in time past in the Jews’ religion, how that beyond measure I persecuted the church of God, and wasted it: and profited in the Jews’ religion above many my equals in mine own nation, being more exceedingly zealous of the traditions of my fathers. But when it pleased God, who separated me from my mother’s womb, and called me by his grace, to reveal his Son in me, that I might preach him among the heathen; immediately I conferred not with flesh and blood: neither went I up to Jerusalem to them which were apostles before me; but I went into Arabia, and returned again unto Damascus. Galatians 1:11-17.

You may dub it as an obsession or fondness of his heavenly Father, nonetheless, Christ shows us by his life, works and words what it means to have a personal relationship with God by revealing to us the preciousness and uniqueness of the most cherished and desirable relationship above every other. He speaks to the people with full assurance that he has never been alone, but the Father who has sent him is with him just as the old proverb says that one with God is majority. This is also true in the life and ministerial experience of prophet Elijah at the context of Mount Carmel before the multitudes of Israel and before the four hundred and fifty Baal’s prophets when he stood alone for God and defeated them by the power of the God of Israel.

Christ speaks repeatedly of the Father. Almost every page in the gospel of John could be found the expression of my Father is this and my Father is that so that everything he says, does, thinks, and wherever he goes was as if it were done by the Father or with the permission of the Father as the sole initiator of everything about him. John 5:19-20. Note: be it an open or secret disciple like Obadiah or Joseph of Arimathea (1 Kings 18:3-4: 12-13. John 19:38), let us forget about confusion of denomination conflicts to seek for a deeper, reverential and personal relationship with God in the company of other true worshippers of the same mind who worship him in Spirit and truth. John 4:24. God is not seated in any denomination or synagogue or temple made with hands like Elijah thinks he should be when he cried to heaven that he was left alone as the only individual with a true relationship with God but was reproved for his false conception of the being the last man standing on earth for righteousness sake; that there are seven thousand spiritually honest men with one on one relationship with God who has not bowed unto Baal, and every mouth which hath not kissed him. 1 Kings 19:18.

There wasn’t anything done, spoken, thought about, or any matter judged by Christ that Father was not involved and responsible for the permission for the execution. His first humanly response and resistance to his earthly parents’ demand on him was his simple explanation of the necessity and priority to go about his Father’s business. Luke 2:49. The Father was well pleased with Christ because he sought to be Father’s pleaser and not men’s pleaser. We should therefore seek to be Father’s pleaser because there is nobody who is able to defend or deliver us before the God of all flesh and Father of all spirits when he sit to judge. Whatsoever pleases the heavenly Father is agreeable to Christ – his Father’s word, works, will, desire and goals are his word, works, will, pursuit and interests: thus the testimony account of the heavenly Father about Christ was found to be true as his beloved Son, in whom he is well pleased.

Was God not responsible for our coming to Christ? Has the Lord not made it known to us that no one can come to him except the Father draws him? Why then should we not sanctify and reverence him in all our ways, thoughts, words and deeds as the Father of all spirits and the God of all flesh for whom he is, and before who all flesh shall come? Why should we not learn from Daniel, Shadrack and Abednego who refused to bow down to the image made by king Nebuchadnezzar in the form of god, refused to obey man’s words against the word of God? Note: the company of those who have personal relationships with God have one thing in common, that is to please him, not anyone, not themselves and not the world around them. Some people are more devoted to church building and organization more than they are devoted in their personal communion before God. They seek for the praise that comes from men but not from God. They are more loyal to man more than they are in their walk with God almighty in whose hand is the breadth of every living being. Is this not the hypocrisy of the Pharisees which was condemned and denounced by Christ? We shouldn’t allow anyone to rule over us against the will and the word of God, but to let the greatest desire of our heart, our love, loyalty, faithfulness and devotion be unto him who has so much loved us to have given us his only begotten Son for our sins, just as the Macedonian brethren exceeded the expectations of the apostles who gave themselves first of all to the Lord, and then by the will of God unto the apostles? 2 Corinthians 8:5.

Believer’s relationship with God in Christ Jesus is precious (again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant looking for fine pearls. When he found one of great value, he went away and sold everything he had and bought it. Matthew 13:45-46) because of the price of his redemption, the incorruptible blood of the everlasting covenant of Jesus (1 Peter 1:18-19): therefore, he should zealously, affectionately, devotedly, carefully, and dutifully keep the relationship and fellowship by not allowing any corruptible man or woman, or any corruptible – unfruitful works of darkness or pleasure of sin to mar (but Daniel resolved that he would not defile himself with the king’s food, or with the wine that he drank. Therefore he asked the chief of the eunuchs to allow him not to defile himself. Daniel 1:8) or destroys his union with the Father in heaven just as Adam allowed Eve to come between him and God, and Ahab allowed Jezebel to come between him and God, and Samson allowed Delilah to come between him and God, and Demas allowed material things and the love of the world then to come between him and God, and king Saul allowed self willed and the voice of opinion of the people to destroy his relationship with God, and Gehazi allowed the love of money to destroy his relationship and ministry before God etc.

Christ came down from heaven to earth primarily and purposefully to reveal the Father in heaven to individual (all things have been committed to me by my Father. No one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him. Matthew 11:27) who were chosen and called before the foundation of the world for personal intimate knowledge, relationship and fellowship with the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit (1 John 1:3. 2 Corinthians 13:14): for this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people: and they shall not teach every man his neighbor, and every man his brother, saying, know the Lord: for all shall know me, from the least to the greatest. Hebrews 8:10-11. Note: the measure of the fullness of God we have in us determines the quantity (but we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.2 Corinthians 4:7) of what we can give out or share with others: but whatever we are willing to have or give out to others does not come unto us without our constant, dutiful, necessary, indisputable, nonnegotiable and habitual secret place fellowship in our one on one cool of the day intimacy with God – those far from you will surely perish; you destroy all who are unfaithful to you. But as for me, it is good to draw near to God. I have made the Lord GOD my refuge, that I may proclaim all your works. Psalms 73: 27-28.

God’s purpose and life’s assignments for individual is unique, but all things are intentionally programmed with the goal to accomplish his perfect eternal counsels and plans in his body, which is the church, having created all things for his pleasure so that a spiritually healthy part of his body should care for a sick part or member to get heal and healthy, and those that are strong can as well be of help to those that are weak, so that they can also get strong in the way and walk with God. As our relationship is unique and particular, so our responsibilities, stewardship, accountability, responsibility judgment, rewards, condemnation or acceptance is only one of its kinds. Woe unto the world because of offences: God is not going to justify your failure and falling at the excuse of someone’s for your failure and fall – if you are wise, you will be wise for yourself, but if you be a scorner, you alone shall bear it. Proverbs 9:12. Let sound knowledge of the scriptures makes you wise unto salvation (2 Timothy 3:15-17) as you tremble in obedience and reverence to the instructions of life (hear the word of the Lord, ye that tremble at his word; your brethren that hated you, that cast you out for my name’s sake, said, let the Lord be glorified: but he shall appear to your joy, and they shall be ashamed. Isaiah 66:5) in opposition to the corrupt and compromises opinion of the majority. It is evil and un-pleasing to God if you go with the crowd though they belong to the church but their ways and doings are not biblical or not in harmony with his holy word just as Samuel was living in the temple but never followed after the evil and corrupt ways and doings of the priests – Eli’s two sons ministering before God (so Samuel grew, and the LORD was with him and let none of his words fall to the ground.1 Samuel 3:19): but we can come out from among them and be separate in personal repentance and sanctification unto God, or we can repent with the multitudes among whom we have transgressed and had gone away from the word of God.

There are such words in the scripture which speaks of the togetherness, association, co-operation and community lifestyle of the children of God to love the brotherhood. 1Peter 2:17: (b) endeavoring to the keep the unity of the spirit in the bond of peace. Ephesians 4:3: (c) from whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplies, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, makes increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love. Ephesians 4:16: (d) not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching. Hebrews 10:25.

Yet, if a believer as an individual failed to establish an healthy, faithful and fruitful one on one spiritual relationship with God, he is like a dry branch in the tree which does not bear fruit like the other branches, he would soon be cut away from the vine to be burnt in the fire (John 15:2): or, if a man is heretic (warn a divisive person once, and then warn them a second time. After that, have nothing to do with them.Titus 3:10), or if he’s a little leaven that leavens the whole lump, he must need be purged away from the rest, lest he corrupts or defiles them. 1 Corinthians 5:7-8. Note: the state or situation of your personal relationship with God and your submission to the word of his grace decides or determines your place and usefulness in the body of Christ from him (God) who is able to give you an inheritance and position among his sanctified ones. Acts 20:32.

Just like the Samaritan woman who found Jesus by the well of Jacob had a one on one transformation encounter with Christ, and her testimony helped the other Samaritans experience Jesus on one on one for their salvation, not only because of the words of the woman which she testified about Jesus that he told her all that ever she did: they said unto the woman, now we believe, not because of thy saying: for we have heard him ourselves, and know that this is indeed the Christ, the Savior of the world (John 4:39-42), even so your identification or membership with any church doesn’t count with God except you acquaint yourself with him and be at peace with him (Job 22:21-23) by repentance from sin and regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit for a personal relationship with him in Christ Jesus – you must be born again. Titus 3:3-7.

In the scripture, there are such words as if any man’s name (not your father, mother, son, daughter or uncle’s name) is not found written in the book of life, he shall be cast into the lake of fire. If any man will come after me and hate not his father, mother and his own life, he cannot be my disciple – this is personal and sacrificial. The soul not the souls, meaning a singular or individual soul that sin shall die (Ezekiel 18:20): do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize (1 Corinthians 9:24): if a man strives for masteries, yet is he not crowned except he strives lawfully. In a great house, there are not only vessels for honor, but some for dishonor. If a man therefore purges himself from these, he shall be a vessel of honor, sanctify and meet for every good use (2 Timothy 2:21): but he that does wrong shall receive the wrong which he has done: and there is no respect of persons (Colossians 3:25): whosoever will, let him come, he that comes to me, I will in no wise cast away (John 6:37): if any man thirst, let him come and drink (John 7:37):  whosoever endures to the end, the same shall be saved (Matthew 24:13): work out your own salvation with and trembling (Philippians 2:12-13): for the earth which drinks in the rain that cometh oft upon it, and brings forth herbs meet for them by whom it is dressed, receives blessing from God: but that which bears thorns and briers is rejected, and is nigh unto cursing; whose end is to be burned (Hebrews 6:7-8): all these precious truth indicates that your salvation and relationship with God is unique, particular and personal just as Enoch walk with God and he was no more, for God took him away: but before his translation, he had the testimony that he pleased God, not only by his walk of faith, but by his personal attachment to God. Genesis 5:24.

When you read of the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God Jacob (Matthew 22:32), this is to tell you that these three individuals had separate and unique relationships with God for him to attach himself with them and are called by his name. Whosoever faithfully keep personal relationship with God shall be called by or bear God’s surname, not only when he is in the tabernacle, but also after he receive another building from which is eternal from God. Abraham was called alone (Isaiah 51:1-2) to walk after God in obedience, faith and blessings: to this truth, Christ told the Jews of his days that they should also seek for personal relationship with God with no string attached to Abraham’s relationship with the heavenly Father – say not to yourself, we have Abraham as our father. Matthew 3:9. The personal relationship of Abraham with God does not count for the iniquities of his great – great grand children in the wilderness. God was delighted to swear by himself to bless Abraham and his seed after him, including the whole nations of the earth because of his obedient: yet, he was moved to swear again in his wrath against Abraham’s descendants for the provocations whereby they provoked and despised his counsel and tempted him (this did not Abraham. John 8:40) that they shall not enter into his rest.

In Christ Jesus, we should prioritize to establish our personal relationship and fellowship with God above any other relationship and fellowship in the church or in the world for the accountability and reward of individual’s stewardship in the kingdom. The false teachers and apostle and pastors are thriving because many in the church that are not having personal and unique relationships with God, but they are having itching ear are listening and following after them. Christ knows his sheep by their individual’s names, and he calls his sheep one by one and they follow after him, but they will not follow the stranger because they do not know his voice. Stop saying what your pastor says if it is not accurate with the word of God while you start practicing or doing what God says by his anointing (these things have I written unto you concerning them that seduce you. But the anointing which ye have received of him abides in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teaches you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him. 1 John 2:26-27) that dwells in you in a child like obedient before him. God can’t be wrong and your pastor’s right.

The authority of God’s word should be highly esteemed above any private, selfish, inaccurate, carnal, flattery and unscriptural interpretations and speeches of unlearned, unstable, blind and false shepherds who wrest the scriptures to their own destruction. Note: those who has truly heard and learned from the Father shall escape from the corruption and indoctrination of men’s pleasers (Galatians 1:10): they shall not be children tossed to and fro by every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, by their cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; but shall be established in the true grace of God and in this present truth. 2 Peter 1:12.

Except we engage in the personalization of our relationship with God and not to generalize it with the rest (say ye not, a confederacy, to all them to whom this people shall say, a confederacy; neither fear ye their fear, nor be afraid.  Sanctify the Lord of hosts himself; and let him be your fear, and let him be your dread. And he shall be for a sanctuary; but for a stone of stumbling and for a rock of offence to both the houses of Israel, for a gin and for a snare to the inhabitants of Jerusalem. And many among them shall stumble, and fall, and be broken, and be snared, and be taken. Isaiah 8: 12-15), to understand its uniqueness, the personal accountability, and individual’s recompense of reward or condemnation it should bear on us, we may not make it to the eternal land of celestial Canaan of rest just as many of the Israelis who came out of Egypt failed in the wilderness to make it to the promised land, except Caleb and Joshua with the innocent children of the crowd followers. Though we are following multitudes of people to serve God together as brethren, we should take our stand when it comes to pleasing, obeying and standing on the word of God.

When we come to Christ, we made our personal decision to follow him, having accepted him as our personal Lord and Savior, thus, we should also have personal determination to speak and do all things accordingly after his word as if it all depends on us for his name’s sake. Caleb had kept the word of God in his heart and he understands the implication of ignoring the preciousness of the uniqueness of his relationship with God (then the children of Judah came unto Joshua in Gilgal: and Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenezite said unto him, thou knows the thing that the Lord said unto Moses the man of God concerning me and thee in Kadeshbarnea. Forty years old was I when Moses the servant of the Lord sent me from Kadeshbarnea to espy out the land; and I brought him word again as it was in mine heart. Joshua 14:6-7), hence, he refused to take side with the majority of his fearful and the unbelieving brethren against the word and purpose of God (Numbers 13:27-29): thus they made attempt to stone him and Joshua to death except the presence of God was manifested to prevent the evil crowd from their evil intention (Numbers 14:10) because of his reverence to the word of God above the word of men. God judged, condemned, refused and rejected all the evil crowd from twenty years old upward of those who have chosen to believe the false, cowardice and victimized evil report against his unchanging word and purpose while he identified himself with the brave and steadfast Caleb by calling him but by ‘servant Caleb’ because he have another spirit with him (Numbers 14:24), and has followed me fully, him will I bring into the land wherein he went; and his seed shall possess it. After another forty five years of waiting for the promise, Caleb went up to Joshua to remind him of the word and of the purpose of God concerning him in request for his allotment of land in the land of Canaan. He reminded Joshua of what God has spoken concerning him – it was personal and Joshua was there as the witness, for they both were dedicated and courageous in their individual’s relationship, dedication and walk with God.

Thos who know their God shall be strong, and they shall do exploits. We must develop a very strong and growing personal relationship with God through increasing knowledge of his word (I have more understanding than all my teachers: for thy testimonies are my meditation. Psalms 119:99. (ii) By the revelation of the Spirit through our personal fellowship with the Holy Spirit (when Jesus came into the region of Caesarea Philippi, He asked His disciples, saying, who do men say that I, the Son of man, am? So they said, some say John the Baptist, some Elijah, and others Jeremiah or one of the prophets. He said to them, “But who do you say that I am? Simon Peter answered and said, you are the Christ, the Son of the living God. Jesus answered and said to him, blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah, for flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my Father who is in heaven. Matthew 16:13-17.  (iii) By many years of walk experiences through daily walk of faith before God.

No believer can become a man after the heart of God if they don’t personalize him in their life as David did throughout his life’s time. He knows God so well on one on one right from the various field experiences by killing lions and bears that prey after his sheep with spear and by his hand as he narrate his personal relationship experiences with his God before the congregation before the slaying of Goliath, the champion of the Philistines. Elisha was looking for the God of Elijah whereas God has just poured himself into his life beyond the measure of his master’s anointing. His spiritual credential has just changed and he knew it not that God is now the God of Elisha, the era of Elijah is just over as the sons of the prophets testified that the spirit of Elijah is rested upon Elisha. 2 Kings 2:15-16. No, it was not the spirit of Elijah, but the spirit of God released in double measure than what was previously given to Elijah who was not willing that his servant should keep company with him in his last day on earth to witness his taken away to heaven except the personal determination of Elisha to obey the voice of God to be with his master where ever he goes on that fateful day paid off despite all the opposition from the sons of the prophets in all the cities they went through before the transfer of power.

(A) In view of the eternal judgment to come, we are warns by the scripture to pass or spend the time of our stay here on earth in the fear God in the consciousness that he will judge us uniquely, but not collectively with the rest – if ye call on the Father, who without respect of persons judges according to every man’s work, pass the time of your sojourning here in fear: 1 Peter 1:17.

Your sufficiency, praise and commendation is of God, considering your personal accountability and recompense of reward awaiting each and every one of us before God either at the great white throne at the second resurrection when the unredeemed dead shall be judged and condemned, or at the first resurrection of the just at the judgment seat of Christ when the nations of them that are saved shall be rewarded at the marriage supper of the Lamb. Remember that Adam was judged separately for his role in the fall according to the measure of his participation and irresponsibility before God to have listened to the voice of his wife, instead of taken his personal stand on the word of God. Eve was also punished according to her role and participation in the fall which still has effects on women today in the church on what they can do and how they should behave before God (let the woman learn in silence with all subjection. But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence. For Adam was first formed, then Eve. And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression. Notwithstanding she shall be saved in childbearing, if they continue in faith and charity and holiness with sobriety. 1Timothy 1:11-15): while the serpent was not spared from his role in the fall, but was punished separately and accordingly.

There is a great blessing of eternal reward for our positive resolution in the face of every challenges we encounter if we do not trade our loyalty to God in obedience to man’s will, favor and pleasure against God’s will and word. Hebrews 11:26. There is also a great danger and consequences of eternal proportion of compromising our relationship with God to appease anyone in our life for whatever reason. Individual must zealously and jealously protect, above all things, his relationship with God in Christ Jesus. Nothing and neither any other relationship should be allowed to come between us and our relationship with God like Adam did: like king Saul also did: like king Ahab sold himself to Jezebel at the expense of his soul. We should follow after the example of Caleb and Joshua in the breach of promise, which, despite the opinion and sayings of the crowd and majority of the people, stand their ground to defend the word of God and were spared from the consequences of wandering and wasting in the wilderness for forty years.  Let there be nothing, neither anyone be allowed to hinder us from running well or negatively affect your high- price Christ blood brought relationship and fellowship with God the Father – two cannot walk together, except they agreed. Amos 3:3. If you don’t want to die like Ananias and Sapphira his wife in the early church, you must not prioritize but overcome marital relationship, challenges and affection against divine relationship and affection – for whosoever loves father, mother, wife, children or his own life above Christ, is not worthy of him. You must personally overcome worldliness in all its lusts of the eyes, lusts of the flesh, and the pride of life. You must overcome your flesh and get its affections and lusts crucified with Christ, keep yourself unspotted from the world.

(B) In view of the subject or issue of faith before God, we know that we do not have the same level or measure of faith with God. Some brethren are rich in faith while others are not (James 2:5): thus individual’s relationship with God in Christ Jesus is based, acceptable and to be justified on the soundness of his faith (whatsoever is not of faith is sin. Romans 14:23) which serves as a critical factor to determine the genuine and pureness of his act to do certain things before God (Hebrews 10:38): now the end of the commandment is charity out of a pure heart, and of a good conscience, and of faith unfeigned. From which some having swerved have turned aside unto vain jangling. 1Timothy 1: 5-6 and verse 19. While the sentiment or the point of view of the man with a little faith should sometimes be put into consideration by the man with a great faith (love is not selfish) before doing something which can make his brother offended or is made weak:  nonetheless, the brother of a little or weak faith should not condemn the brother of a great faith for certain permissible action before God. Romans 14:1-6.

© In view of the uniqueness of your assignment in the kingdom, and considering the purpose (s) of your existence on earth, and of your call unto salvation in the kingdom (Esther 4:14), your relationship with God is unique just like that of Mary, the mother of Jesus was unique: and that of Simeon the prophet who blessed Jesus when his parents brought him into the temple was unique. Luke 2:29-32.

Moses was a man with a unique relationship with God, having seen God’s face and having talked with him mouth to mouth as a man will speak with his friend. Numbers 12:6-8. His personal relationship with God emboldens him to leave Egypt, forsaking the prestige, riches and power of the palace which stands in opposition against the purpose of God for his life, not fearing the wrath of Pharaoh, for he endured, as seeing him who is invisible. His dead body and burial was taken care by God himself because of his unique relationship with him and no man knows of his burial ground until now. Deuteronomy 34:6. Hebrews 11:25-27.

While the ministry of the circumcision was committed unto Apostle Peter, and that of the un-circumcision was committed unto Apostle Paul to the glory of the same God (Galatians 2:7-8), it is therefore important to know what the Lord will have you do (Peter seeing him says to Jesus, Lord, and what shall this man do? Jesus says unto him, if I will that he tarry till I come, what is that to thee? Follow thou me. John 21:21-22), then proceed to prove your own work, and have rejoicing in your work before God, and not in another (but let every man prove his own work, and then shall he have rejoicing in himself alone, and not in another. For every man shall bear his own burden. Galatians 6:4-5): to help others as the Lord lead, and to mind your own business and study to be quiet in those things which God is working in you both to will and do according to his good pleasure.
