Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name. Psalms 91:14.

You that love the Lord, hate evil: he preserveth the souls of his saints; he delivereth them out of the hand of the wicked. Psalms 97:10.

In this particular difficult period of time the world is going through – Covid 19 pandemic, it is needful to remind ourselves of the abiding and unfailing love of God, and of the care and power of that everlasting love of God which will move him to go to any lenght or extent to keep, protect and preserves his elects that cry day and night unto him (if any man loves God, the same is known of him. 1 Corinthians 8:13) with such promise of removing sicknesses and diseases from you to transfer or put it on the enemies that hates you (Deuteronomy 7:15) and such promise of human replacement to deliver you from your troubles (the righteous is delivered out of troubles, and the wicked come in his stead. Proverbs 11:8) and to give men for your life all because he loves you, and you are precious and honored before him for loving him who has first loved you. Isaiah 43:4.

The Lord knew and knows what was in Simeon Peter’s thoughts and affection, even though he asked Peter thrice if he loves him. The repetition of the Lord’s question was not to provoke Peter but one meant to set right his priority after all the drama that transpired from the Garden to the cross where he betrayed his Lord after boasting to have loved him even unto dying with Christ (set me a seal upon your heart, as a seal upon your arm: for love is strong as death. Many waters cannot quench love; neither can the floods drown it: if a man would give all the substance of his house for love, it would utterly be contemned. Songs of Solomon 8:6-7) : to teach Peter and the rest that come what may in life, true love is meant to abide in his calling and to stay the cause to the end. Under any circumstance will love ever turn  his back in the absence against the interest of his divine lover, Shepherd and Savior of his soul to catch fish, than to seek and strive in faithfulness and utmost dedication to the vocation he has been called and taught to live and fulful in life: feed my sheep. The Lord instructed. John 21:15.
Thou shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind and strength. True affection is an undivided loyalty and commitment: it is a singular affection, mindfulness and thoughtfulness of God in all his ways and doings. How can you say you love God when your heart is not with him? How can you say you love God when your ways, lifestyles and actions are betraying your confessions?  How can you be justified that your affection is set on him when your heart has turned back and your steps have declined from his ways? Shall not God search this out? For he knows the secrets of the heart. Hosea 10:2.
Two weeks ago, I was in a conversation in my dream with an elderly man, and all I could remember after I woke up was my response to his question which was quoted from the book of Jeremiah 33 verses 6: behold, I will bring it health and cure, and I will cure them, and will reveal unto them the abundance of peace and truth. I think there is no better word from the Spirit of God in such a time as this in the world when the hearts of men is failing them for the fear of the unknown while the Lord shall be the confidence of his people.

In your trials and while you are probably under demonic attacks, set your affection on God, and don’t be distracted in your thoughts. In the midst of the raging winds of the sea, set your mind on Him? and he will calm the wind to keep you in perfect peace because you trust in him. If your Lazarus has died for so long, set your affection on Him and you will see the glory of God, and your dead shall live again. God will avenge you speedily of all your adversaries to do you justice, though he bears long with you, but as long as long as your affection is set on Him, and you do not give him rest in prayer day and night, you will see his days of  favour and divine visitation. The affection set on God will increasingly, persistently and continually trust in Him at all times, for there is no variableness, neither shadow of turning with God, neither should it be found in us. It is a fixed heart and God himself is the strength of such heart. Stay on the word and promises of God, sanctify him in your heart and let him be your fear. Speak the written word as you continually plead the blood of the Lamb over you and your household against the Covid 19 virus  and against whatever evil out there. Believe in the report of the Lord and nothing else, for by the word of your testimony through the Lord’s report and by the blood of the Lamb shall you overcome the dragon with all his evil. The divided heart is a faulty heart before the Lord. Is your heart right with God (a friend loves at all times, either good or bad times, love does not fail. Proverbs 17:17), even as he is thoughtful and mindful of you? The affection should not be doubled; neither should it be diverted, but to set it always on things above, by serving the Lord in  the singleness of your heart: as it is written, because he has set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him.

Nearer my God to thee, nearer to thee, ere though it be a cross, thou raises me, still all my songs shall be, nearer my God to thee, nearer to thee…..the Lord has called us his friend, though he is our mighty Saviour, deliverer and Redeemer: all he asks from us is our staunchly determined heart, hungering and thirsting after him as the hart pants after it’s water brooks. Like Mary Magdalene, we should stand by Christ at the sepulcher, though others will flee for fear, but perfect love will casts out fear. There is no fear in love, the fearful heart has never and will never be made perfect in divine love. John 20:11. Note: God will worry for the welfare, well-being and security of those whose priority is after the fellowship in his secret place: to keep them in the time of trouble (covid 19) and to hide them in his pavilion: in the secret of his tabernacle shall he hide me; he shall set me up upon a rock. Psalms 27:4-5.
This is the love that works by faith: the love that despises shame, not moved by imprisonment and mockery of men because of the truth -gospel of Christ, and willing to lay down everything, including own life for his name’s sake; to gladly suffer and to endure whatever affliction of the righteous, so that the Lord should be glorified in him, either by life or death: such genuine affection for the Lord Jesus will not deny his attachment to him, neither deny his Lordship over him, and his involvement with him: as it is written, for thy sake we are killed all day long, we are counted as sheep for the slaughter.
Job’s sufferings and trials was borne and endured because of his love and fear of God, and you could clearly see that after all the material and physical blessings has been taken away from him, the love in his heart for his redeemer has the enemy not been able to comprehend. The affection set on God will trust and believe always in the unfailing eternal love to the end – though he slay, yet will such heart continue to trust in God’s care: though he brings them into the seven fold heated furnace of fire, or into the den of lions, they will not hesitate to praise him in the very fire, nor turn their back away from God, but will confesses him in trouble for his deliverance and help of his countenance….because he has set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name. He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him. With long life will I satisfy him, and show him my salvation. This is the selfless love of the cross that defies the world to bear the reproach of the wicked and endures the contradictions of sinners without murmuring or any compromise. Such heart will submit to divine providence and will only see good coming out of all things happening around him – satisfies, rejoicing and resting on God’s love and word, that it is the Lord performing the things that are written about him; and after his trial, he shall come forth to shine forth as gold. John 12:25. Hebrews 11: 17-19. 2 Kings 10:15-16.

O love the Lord, all ye his saints: for the Lord preserves the faithful, and plentifully rewards the proud doer….such love rejoices in tribulation, knowing that tribulation works patience, and patience, experience, and experience hope: and hope in God does not bring anyone into disappointment or shame because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us. Romans 5:1-6. Psalms 31:23. Matthew 23:27. Psalms 97:10.
Consider the reward and honour of such unconditional and yielding to providence love and affection set towards God in the life of Ruth the Moabite woman. Her devotion to Naomi was as the result of her devotion to God. Her love for her mother in law was as the result of the fruit of God’s love in her heart. The devotion and attachment of her life to God was the power that joined her to Naomi which enables her to cleave to her mother in law after Orpah, the second daughter in law departed from Naomi. Ruth, having discover the knowledge of the true and living God, turned away from the affection and worship of her idolatry foundation and people: for she has chosen the Lord to be her refuge, even the Most High her habitation: she has sold herself out for God, and chooses to love them that loved the Lord. She refused to back off from following after the Lord, notwithstanding Naomi’s strong persuasions, as did the other daughter in law. Her motive was to serve the God of Naomi and of her late husband: to continue in her search to live for righteousness, and to increase in her knowledge of God which will be difficult to attain if she should stay behind as suggested by her mother-in-law in the land where Chemosh the god of the Moabites is reverenced and worshipped. Hence, she made her final resolution in bold declarations before Naomi: suffer me not to leave you, wherever you go, there I will go, and wherever you die, there will I die. Your people will be my people, and your God will be my God. Was God not faithful to his promise in the life of Ruth? Was she not honoured by men and women of Bethlehem Judah when they said to Naomi, blessed be the Lord, which has not left thee this day without a kinsman, that his name may be famous in Israel? And he shall be unto thee a restorer of thy life, and a nourisher of thine old age: for your daughter in law, which is better to thee than seven sons has born you a child? Was Ruth not lifted up above the daughters of Bethlehem Judah, though a stranger, but was married to the respectable man in the society? Was Christ the Saviour not come from her lineage after she got married to Boaz? Ruth 4.

Thus, we see that the love set upon God will defy all oppositions with strong and total firmness of heart to God, and will not take to any ungodly or common way out of any trouble to detach from God’s love for any reason. He will also be a companion to them that love the Lord and of them fear holy his name (Psalm 119:63): he will be delivered, honored, exalted and glorified by the Lord come what may as it is written, eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him. May the Lord direct our heart into the love of God and into patient waiting for Christ! Psalms 119:63: 139:21-22. 1 Corinthians 2: 9. 2 Thessalonians 3:5.
