From the scripture, the Christian is symbolized and depicted as a spiritual warrior on earth – fighting his way to heaven. He is a soldier of Christ, faith and of truth and righteousness – fighting for his eternal inheritance, undefiled, reserved in heaven for him – laying hold of eternal life.                                                                                                                                                                                   Ever Since the expulsion of Satan and his rebel angels (now called demons or evil spirit) from heaven, the remnant of the seed of the woman (believers in Christ of all ages) has been in fierce battle with him (the Devil) who works as their persecutor and accuser with great wrath and hatred against them for this sole bitter reason – their understanding and application of the word of God in their subjection to the gospel of Christ and its testimonies for the hope which is laid up for them in heaven. It is a war declared by the Devil mostly against the entire blood bought covenant children of God by faith in Christ Jesus in his resistance and oppositions at all cost and by all possible means to stop them from making or getting to heaven because he had perfect understanding of its unending joy and perfect existence where he once abode and shall never have the privilege to enjoy its bliss, peace and glory anymore.
It is a war against all the creation of God in his evil ambition to be like God, to overthrow him from the position of ruler-ship over God’s creatures and creations – in the devil’s desires and pursuits of God creatures and creations the Lord addressed him as the thief and robber laboring to steal, kill and to destroy.                                                                                                                                         God promised the ultimate defeat of Satan in ‘the seed of the woman which has bruised the head of the serpent. God armed and equipped the remnant of the seed of the woman with weapons to fight the Devil as spiritual warrior equal to the task for the battle of the Lord and for his kingdom for their glory and place in heaven as an over comer – more than a conqueror through him (Christ) that loved them and has given himself for them.
And there appeared a great wonder in heaven; a woman clothed with the sun and the moon under her feet, and upon her head a crown of twelve stars. And she being with child cried, travailing in birth, and pained to be delivered. And there appeared another wonder in heaven; and behold a great red dragon, having seven heads and ten horns, and seven crowns upon his heads. And his tail drew the third part of the stars of heaven, and did cast them to the earth: and the dragon stood before the woman which was ready to be delivered, for to devour her child as soon as it was born. And she brought forth a man child, who was to rule all nations with a rod of iron: and her child was caught up unto God, and to his throne. And the woman fled into the wilderness, where she hath a place prepared of God, that they should feed her there a thousand two hundred and threescore days. And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels, and prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven. And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him. And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night. And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death. Therefore rejoice, ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them. Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! For the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time. And when the dragon saw that he was cast unto the earth, he persecuted the woman which brought forth the man child. And to the woman were given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness, into her place, where she is nourished for a time, and times, and half a time, from the face of the serpent. And the serpent cast out of his mouth water as a flood after the woman, that he might cause her to be carried away of the flood. And the earth helped the woman, and the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed up the flood which the dragon cast out of his mouth. And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ. Revelations 12.
The believer is assured of victory in the battles of life of any nature and origin.      His afflictions, troubles and difficulties may be countless but the Lord shall deliver him out of them all – he shall be redeemed from all his troubles – Whatsoever is born of God overcomes the world – the constant and unfailing victory and triumph of believer is in his spiritual foundation and origin in his spiritual birth (Isaiah 46:3-4) into a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus from the dead – the new man from above, the innermost man – the Christ within.       Those are kept by the power of God’s resurrection through faith unto the completion of their salvation and the full manifestation and glorification of the sons of God. Their elections have been of old; and the Lord the Alfa and Omega of faith and birth shall save them to the end for none shall pluck or remove them from his hands. 1 John 5:1-5.
The Lord is a man of war. He will never lose neither small or great battle to the enemy be it on the mountain or in the plain, (1 Kings 20:23) dry land or in the sea, physical or spiritual – the Lord is a great King above all gods in his hand are the deep places of the earth: the strength of the hills is his also; the sea is his, and he made it: and his hands formed the dry land– Alleluia for the Lord God Omnipotent that reigns, the Only Potentate, the King of kings and Lord of lords!   He has fought and won the greatest battle for his bride’s (believer) redemption and salvation and shall fight to preserve her till the end unto his heavenly kingdom and glory. The believer can be shaken, terrified, attacked; accused, opposed and pursued but all these the devil is no match for him – greater is he that lives in him than he that is in the world. All the hairs of his head are numbered and the Lord shall keep all his bones and none of them shall be broken as he will keep and saved to the uttermost: to be presented faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy. Though the believer is presently unclothed with his cloth from heaven (spiritual body) yet, he operates from the third heavens far above the principalities and powers in heavenly places in Christ Jesus to conquer spiritual battles in his earthly tabernacle (physical body). She is complete in her Lord which is the head of all principalities and power for her life is hidden with God in Christ Jesus as he orders, directs and engages in all her battles. As long as the bride abides in the Lord’s will and stays by his side (1 Samuel 22:23) walking daily in his ways and paths of righteousness (Isaiah 33: 13-16) abounding in the Lord’s work (1 Samuel 25:28-29. 1 Corinthians 15: 57-58) he shall be freed from the snare of the fowler as he shall always in every place and in every situation be unfailingly protected and victorious through our Lord Jesus Christ…..For thus hath theLordspoken unto me, like as the lion and the young lion roaring on his prey, when a multitude of shepherds is called forth against him, he will not be afraid of their voice, nor abase himself for the noise of them: so shall theLordof hosts come down to fight for mount Zion, and for the hill thereof. As birds flying, so will theLordof hosts defend Jerusalem; defending also he will deliver it; and passing over he will preserve it. Isaiah 31:4-5.
The believer is a spiritual fighter or warrior – a Christian soldier. His weapons in his quest for heaven comprises the whole armor of God which must be clothed upon in his constant readiness for combat against the principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, and against spiritual wickedness in heavenly places. His ruggedness, resistance, violence and toughness are spiritual and not physical rudeness in moral sense or laxity. It is a battle against the will and the light of God in a rebellious and dark world…..And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God. John 3:19-21. It is the battle against the truth and the souls of men to perish in everlasting fire….Remember ye not, that, when I was yet with you, I told you these things?and now ye know what withholdeth that he might be revealed in his time. For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way. And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming: even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, and with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: that they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness. 2 Thessalonians 2: 5-12. It is the battle meant to be fought and won as over-comers – behold, I give unto you power, to tread on serpents and scorpions and over all the powers of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurts you. Luke 10:19.   It is a battle between God and Satan to owns, control and guides your life in the purposes you are pursuing and the interest you are presently serving…..You are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him.   When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it. John. 8:44. It is a decisive battle that determines the real value of man’s worth and existence in life before leaving the world at death which determines his place in eternity……Forasmuch then as Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves likewise with the same mind: for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin; that he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God. For the time past of our life may suffice us to have wrought the will of the Gentiles, when we walked in lasciviousness, lusts, excess of wine, reveling, banqueting, and abominable idolatries:wherein they think it strange that ye run not with them to the same excess of riot, speaking evil of you:who shall give account to him that is ready to judge the quick and the dead. For for this cause was the gospel preached also to them that are dead, that they might be judged according to men in the flesh, but live according to God in the spirit.1 Peter 4: 1-6. It is a battle in the contention for the faith once delivered unto the saints: in the defenses of it, and sacrificial services to the brethren…..yea, and if I be offered upon the sacrifice of your faith, I joy, and rejoice with you all. Philippians 2:17. Jude 3.
The believer’s battle is not against flesh and blood, therefore must not fight according to the flesh (physical violent fight, kick boxing, karate, judo, tae kwon do, aikido or by any form of martial arts) neither is he to fight with carnal weapons (gun, pistol or sword) nor by carnal or worldly means (oppression, intimidation and victimization.) His greatest weapon is the armor of righteousness (imputed righteousness of the Lord) on his right hand and on his left. Ephesians 6: 10-18. He must never lose focus to fight in righteousness as the Lord had fought (Revelation 19: 11-16) He must walk in the paths of righteousness as the Lord leads for his constant victory, establishment and solidification, security, testimony, peace and assurance and confirmation of his election (salvation) in Christ Jesus. Isaiah 32:17-20. Isaiah 51:7-8. Isaiah 54; 14-17. Psalms 23: 3b-6. Psalms 85:13. Proverbs 11: 6 and verse 19.
Spiritual and physical discipline and training are required for believer’s present endurance and aftermath reward in his fight for heaven if a man also strive for masteries, yet is he not crowned, except he strive lawfully (2 Timothy. 2: 5). He is to endure the persecution of a godly life against the pleasure of worldliness (2 Timothy 3: 12). He is to endure afflictions of the gospel life against the compromises of sin. (2 Timothy 2: 3 Romans 8: 35-39). He is to focus on his fight for heaven and be freed from the distractions of the affairs of this life which may jeopardized his valiant fight for and crown in heaven (2 Timothy 2: 4). He is to firmly hold his two-edged sword in his hand for a good fight till the end for the incorruptible crown of righteousness laid up for him in heaven (2 Timothy 4: 5-8).
